THE PROBLEM:
One of the most problematic blockages in a kitchen, bathroom or shower is usually caused by a build-up of hair, grease, body fats and soap. The waste runs slower and slower and unless treated the build-up increases, creates odours and blocks and overflows.
The Solution
Rather than use toxic chemicals such as strong acids or caustic soda, our enzymatic treatment breaks down hair gently and naturally. The product has a blend of enzymes, bacteria and harmless additives.
Hair is made of a tough protein called α-keratin. It’s one of the toughest biological molecules there is and it’s what horns, claws and fingernails are made of. As ever, wherever there’s a biological problem there’s usually a biological solution too.
Radicle’s solution uses enzymes which in this application can be thought of as ‘biological digesters’.
Enzymes work by breaking apart large complex compounds into smaller ones. Each enzyme is very specific and usually only does one job – in this case digesting hair – but it does the job extremely well. Which it should do – it’s been evolving for over 3.5 billion years.
The Result
Our blend of natural enzyme break down hair fibres and other blockages and remove the source of odours.
The product is available as a liquid where a capful per treatment is usually sufficient. Dose and leave to do its work.
With so many buidings across our 15-acre estate we’ve managed to save well over 100 tons of water a week – and over 7 tons of CO2 off our carbon footprint. Sustainability is really important to us and to our community of 300+ businesses here at Digbeth – the fact we’re saving money too is a real bonus.
This is so simple to implement and it really works. Our loos are so much more pleasant and the odours have gone. This is a historic building and we were struggling with that. We’ve been working really hard to reduce our environmental impact this year; this one change is saving us literally tons of water, CO2 – and money.
We went waterless with the Radicle system and within a week we were getting positive comments from the team about how the urinal smells had disappeared.
